EventIndore Zoo Gets Exotic Bison and Ostrich

Indian Bison (Gaur)- Largest wild cattle species globally. - Estimated global population: 13,000-30,000, with 85% in India. - Habitat: Western Ghats, Myanmar, Thailand. - Conservation Status: IUCN Vulnerable, Schedule I under Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
Ostriches- Largest living birds, height: 2-2.8 metres, weight: 90-160 kg. - Native to African savannas and deserts. - Capable of running up to 43 mph. - IUCN Status: Least Concern.
Wildlife Initiatives- CM praised zoo's successful Zebra breeding as a model for wildlife care. - Emphasis on compassion towards animals and their role in the environmental system. - New aquarium aims to boost eco-tourism and aquatic biodiversity awareness.
