Malaria Overview- Caused by Plasmodium parasites (5 species, with P. falciparum and P. vivax being the most dangerous). - Spread by infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. - Symptoms include fever, shaking chills, headache, muscle aches, and tiredness. - Found in tropical and subtropical areas of Africa, South America, and Asia.
National Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP)- Central nodal agency for prevention and control of six vector-borne diseases: Malaria, Dengue, Lymphatic Filariasis, Kala-azar, Japanese Encephalitis, and Chikungunya. - Operates under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India.
