News HighlightHaryana's sex ratio at birth improved from 871 in 2014 to 910 in 2024, marking a 39-point rise due to effective implementation of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative.
Combating Female Foeticide- 1,217 FIRs filed under the PCPNDT Act since 2014, including 397 through interstate raids.
- Over 4,000 arrests made targeting illegal sex determination and female foeticide.
Maternal Healthcare- Institutional deliveries increased from 35.7% in 2005-06 to 94.9% in recent years.
Education- Secondary education enrollment rose from 3,85,624 in 2015-16 to 4,00,736 in 2023-24.
Financial Support- 5,23,056 families received Rs 21,000 for the birth of a girl child.
- Rs 1.31 crore disbursed to 778 POCSO Act survivors by October 2024.
Nutrition and Health- Poshan Abhiyan benefited 2,24,136 participants through Anganwadi centres.
- Adolescent Girls Scheme supported 13,439 girls in Mewat with health and skill-building services.
Savings Scheme- Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme facilitated 8,23,522 accounts for daughters under 10.
Media Campaign- "Mahri Lado" radio programme on All India Radio engaged over 1,60,000 participants, focusing on health, nutrition, and leadership.
PCPNDT Act, 1994- Bans sex selection techniques and misuse of prenatal diagnostic techniques for sex-selective abortion.
Poshan Abhiyan- Launched on 8th March 2018, aims to reduce stunting, undernutrition, anemia, and low birth weight by 2%, 2%, 3%, and 2% per annum respectively.
Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme- Promotes the welfare of girl children; accounts can be opened for up to two daughters aged below 10, with deposits ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 150,000 annually, maturing after 21 years or on marriage.
