| Key Announcements by CM Nitish Kumar | - Caste-based census data released: Total population of Bihar is 13,725,310. - 53,72,022 people live outside Bihar; 12,53,53,000 live in the state. - Caste-wise distribution: Backward class (27.12%), Extreme backward class (36.01%), Scheduled caste (19.65%), Scheduled tribe (1.68%), General category (15.52%). - Reservation limit increased from 50% to 65%. - Total reservation now 75% (including 10% for economically weaker sections of general category). - Poor families: General (25.09%), Backward (33.16%), Extreme backward (33.58%), Scheduled caste (42.93%), Scheduled tribe (42.70%). - Total poor families: 94 lakh. - Scheme to provide Rs 2 lakh assistance for employment to poor families. - House assistance: Land purchase amount increased from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1 lakh; Rs 1.2 lakh for house construction. - Sustainable Livelihood Scheme assistance increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for extremely poor families. |
